Nobody wants to look like a prune by the time she hits 55 but that doesn’t stop many of us from falling into the traps of aging skin. While you may feel invisible to the effects of aging when you are in your 20s and 30s, the fact is that your actions early on will impact the way your skin looks later in life. No matter what age you are or what kind of life you lead, you can do things to help prevent your skin from aging faster than it should. Here are some tips to keep your skin looking as young as possible.
1 – Exfoliate Your Skin
To keep your skin young and fresh, you should use an exfoliator to remove dead skin on the surface and unclog pores. You can either use a microdermabrasives if you have sensitive skin, or you can use a chemical exfoliator for your oily skin. A simple application once a week should be sufficient enough for you.
2 – Stop Smoking
Smoking is one of the biggest causes of wrinkles, age spots, and other skin care issues that let the world know you are getting older. Nicotine reduces the flow of oxygen to the skin, which causes the skin to sink and crack. Before you look like a creature from a horror movie, you might want to cut the habit.
3 – Wear Sunscreen
It does not matter what the weather is outside. You need to wear sunscreen every day. UVA and UVB rays can cause your skin to age, burn, spot, and look less attractive than what it should. You can buy sunscreens nowadays that have built in moisturizers, so you can cover two skin care issues in one. Spend a couple minutes of your time protecting exposed skin form the sunlight and you will shave years off the look of your complexion.
4 – Avoid Pulling on Your Skin
Some people like to tug and pry at their skin for one reason or another, but that is not exactly conducive to a wrinkle free appearance. Your skin goes through enough stress already. It does not need you tugging at it to add to the problems. As much as you may be tempted to pinch and play with your skin, keep your hands down.
5 – Consistently Care for Your Skin
If you only cleanse and moisturize the skin every once and awhile, you are not doing yourself any favors. It takes a consistent regimen of skin care to show positive results. If you start on an anti-aging product, you cannot stop using it. If you do, your skin will start to crave those chemicals and will actually age even faster than it did before the product. Commit yourself to good skin care and you will have great looking skin for the future.
